2, 2, 12
Well, we have now celebrated Mako's 2nd birthday, Crosby's 2 month birthday (March 3rd) and the whopping 12 pound mark for Crosby! He continues to grow and change everyday and it seems like once we hit the 8 week mark his personality really came through. Not a day goes by that he doesn't smile, laugh or try to engage in a conversation with his baby jibber-jabber. He has his mommy's smile, a grin from ear to ear! His coo's, agoos, and raspberries absolutely melt your heart. He is so responsive to everything around him and all he needs to do is spot either Erik or myself and he is one big smile. It's awesome!
We took him for his 2 month check up and he is growing as he should. I, of course, had a list of questions for the doctor and now looking back I'm not sure if she actually answered them. Erik was there for support and man power. I was not able to fathom the thought of holding Crosby down for his shots so Erik had the "honors". Crosby took 3 shots like a champ, well a champ that turned bright red with a hint of blue. He held his breath while trying to let out a giant cry which in turn made me teary. I quickly told myself to suck it up, it's just shots and if he sees me upset then it could escalate his reaction. Erik scooped him up and snuggled him close and then they were out the door while I set our next 2 appointments. We now know the dates of his next harpooning, oh fun :)
We walked home from the pediatrician's office and Crosby slept peacefully. We then transferred him to his crib and he continued to sleep. When he awoke for his feeding he was acting normal but I was all upset to see his swollen, red thighs. In the middle of nursing him he let out a gut wrenching scream and starting crying, tears and all. I too lost it and the tears were flowing. I felt so bad for putting him through the torture of being vaccinated, asking myself why and how could I do this, blah blah. Suddenly in the midst of my gut wrenching cries....SPLATTER! Crosby wasn't crying because he was in pain he was crying because he was working on the world's largest diaper! It was so bad it shot out of the diaper, up the back of his onesie, through that and onto my pants. Needless to say, Erik grabbed some scissors and cut the onesie off of him, sadly it was the safest decision. After the "explosion" all was well!
Bath time and play time followed and the day ended like any other, smooching the heck out of Crosby until he fell asleep!
