I think I'm caught up?

My postpartum experience was interesting! I had some great nurses there as well! I realized that I feared my labor and delivery but not the postpartum part. I, for some reason, didn't realize that pain would linger. The delivery was a pressure kind of pain but the discomfort afterward was something I didn't think about. I tried to tough it out but I ended up falling in love with my daily Motrin and the crazy bathroom regimen of Tucks pads, Dermaplast spray, ointment and a handy squirt bottle. Erik was my savior! He went above and beyond the call of husbandly duty. I don't think that I would have been able to keep up my good spirits and heal if it weren't for him there by my side every time I needed help or comfort. He is my rock!

I have quite a few comical stories that are a little too personal to post in a blog but you know that I will share them with some of you at some point....beware :)

Our transition home was great! We had my mom here as well as Erik's dad and step mom. They were on snuggle duty while Erik and I readjusted. After the family cleared out it was time for Erik and I to "just do it". We have taken on parenting in such a natural way. Everything has seemed to just work out and if not than we take it like a grain of salt and learn for next time. We are actually getting sleep. We are alternating at the moment until Crosby finds his routine but all of that has worked out too.

Breastfeeding has been going so well. After our first visit with the pediatrician it was confirmed that it was going great! When Crosby was discharged from the hospital he was 6 lbs 13 0z and now he is a whopping 7 lbs 3 oz.....um can you say hogasaurus rex! The doctor said all looked well and we set our appt for our 2 wk check up.

Mako has also transitioned into big brother mode just fine. He will not leave Crosby's side. As I type this he is half way under the crib while his "little brother sleeps". He has taken to him is such a loving way and Erik and I are so relieved. Crosby barely notices the barks, thank goodness he got used to those in utero! Marshall finally realized yesterday that there was a new addition but that's okay, he is 14!

As far as what do we do next, well, we love our little guy! We cherish every moment he lays like a frog on our chest, smiles (which is really gas), roots around for food and calms with the simple touch of his mom or dad. Throw an occasional load of laundry and dishes in there and we are good to go :) Life is awesome and today we will venture out for Crosby's first walk! Of course we are those parents with camcorder and camera in tow but hey, they're only little once!

Alright, gotta go love on my little man....I promise to keep you all posted!

Ooh, one more thing...Congrats to my cousin Vicky and her husband Patrick. They welcomed their first born, Anya Grace, on December 30th. Erik and I have parenting partners in crime. Emily and Steve, we are patiently awaiting Parker's arrival to share in the guts and glory of parenthood with you!!!
