Blog slacker

Mr. January 2008

Whoa Nelly, it has been a while! I wouldn't say life has been hectic but priorities have definitely shifted. I would much rather ooh and ahh over my little man than get on the computer but I think it's time that I give you all the benefit of oohing and ahhing too.

Crosby's personality continues to grow. He is fascinated with lights and will have an amazing stare down with the dining room fixture. I try to convince him that he has won but I think he knows better :) The days go by so quickly with feedings every 3 hours, playtime and then a quick nap. I find myself looking at the clock and realizing it's time for the next "round". I love every minute of it, never getting frustrated. We have tried to fall into a routine and for the most part we are doing a good job. Crosby has adapted pretty well to the activities that mommy has "planned" for him. Either it be a bath, story time, tummy time, watching mommy scrub bottles or dining out with friends, he has done great! What a cool kid he is turning out to be. He is truly entertaining and nothing melts my heart more than when he lays like a little frog on my chest and calls it a night. After bath time when he's getting lubed up with baby lotion he is so incredibly happy, grinning from ear to ear.

As far as Erik adapting to our schedule, he's done pretty well too. Erik is back at work so he gets nights off. It only made sense to me for that to be the case. He can't nurse him so we thought that it would be better to have him take the 9-11pm shift each day. For some reason Crosby can be hell in a diaper during that time or he's wide awake, refusing to nap, and wanting to interact. It's funny because I have talked to other moms and they are saying the same thing. I wonder what it is in those 2 hours that jump starts the infants?
I have had quite a few "mom moments". Whether it being spit up on, forgetting to brush my teeth before I leave the house or getting drenched with pee, it all makes me laugh. The best so far occurred last week when I, all by my lonesome, ventured to the mall to pick up some more nursing sleep bras. I was trucking along and finally reached the store. I grabbed the giant pieces of material and headed into the dressing room only to find something protruding from my back pocket....yuppers, a huge tube of Preparation H was standing at attention for all of the mall to see. I couldn't help but laugh at the revelation that I was clearly focused on Crosby and nothing else. I quickly tried on the bras to avoid what happened the previous day...let's say I "sprung a leak" right there in the store. Oh, the things we go through. :)
Crosby is now napping and I love peeking in on him with our video monitor. He is so peaceful and just so darn cute. We have a fun week planned; another lunch date, a few strolls around the neighborhood and then we are headed out of town for Emily and Steve's baby shower. I'm interested to see how Crosby handles the drive and all the attention. If he's anything like me, he'll sleep in the car and love every second of the attention. He should be just fine :)
