Kick it for me fellas
Hello all, happy 2 days until we find out! Last night was super cool, I felt the baby kick. I am 99.9% sure that it was a kick. I have been feeling the baby "flutter" here and there for 2 weeks but this was the real deal. Erik and I were in bed reading and I felt our little squirt squirming around like crazy. I set down the book when I felt something a little more forceful. I gently laid my hands on my belly and shortly after I felt a jab to my right hand. Whoa momma! I freaked and told Erik. He put down his book and I was hoping that the baby would kick again. To ease my worries and to accommodate "it's" mommy there was another kick, this time on daddy's hand. What a moment! I kept putting down my book to stare at my abdomen and I did see a few LITTLE movements which is like nothing felt before. Our baby can hear and I think likes it when Erik reads bedtime stories, I know I do. It's so endearing. Our baby is also the size of a "large onion", hmmmm. Last week he/she was the size of an avocado so I guess that progress. (?) I think I'll be ready to get out of the food sizing chart :) I'm ready to graduate to something else because I don't have the heart to dice up an onion! Pregnancy really makes you appreciate your life that is now and will soon be changing but also the life of helpless produce!
Recently I have been having some hip pain which catches me off guard. This causes me to shift in a weird way and I look like I'm about to bust out with the snake or electric slide....take your pick. So now I am feeling like my body is a nice combo of a very unlikely match. My top half is like that of an overly augmented 18 year old stripper and my lower half is much like a overweight 90 year old with sciatica.....beautiful picture isn't it! For the last 2 weeks I have been having headaches. The pain is more of a tension pain in my neck. I think this is due to lack of sleep but since we have our appt on Monday I will make sure to mention it. Everything else is good to go.
I headed over to L&D to with Marcy and Jessica. I wouldn't say it was a willing trek. I was kindly rolled down the hall in the recliner I was lounging in. Marcy was in need of seeing the baby. Knowing I had an appt Monday she still wanted to see him/her. The ultrasounds are getting so much cooler. We sat there and watched our little squirt punch, kick, crawl up and attempt to flip and the best was watching him/her suck their thumb. We could see the bones and then the thumb was comfortably tucked away. We could see the lips going to town. It was incredible. There was a lot of thumb sucking going on!!! The complexity of it all is unreal. All the bones that are visible, the ventricles in the brain and the chambers of the heart.....way too cool. We were sure not to sneak a peak at the lower regions but then again we would have no idea what we were looking at. Ahhh....I love the ability to get abused and forced to go to L&D! I really have great friends and I appreciate the 2 gals being there with me!!!! Thanks ladies!
Stayed tuned for the next post!!!
